*NOTE: This post was a “copy-&-paste” from my personal tumblr. I never had an art blog so I posted my artwork primarily on there, so the style of blogging is different and the Art Piece I’m displaying might not be available in HIGH-RES directly here on tumblr.

- BACKGROUND HISTORY -
For you tumblr. followers you probably already know a little info about why I decided to do this but I’ll go deeper into detail. Basically the reason why I decided to put together a mixtape was because I needed to brush up on my Mixtape Cover skills. I haven’t created one in a while and felt that it was time to keep it fresh and I needed to practice. But since this was going to be just a “Mock-Up” mixtape cover with no use other than “just another portfolio piece”, I felt it needed to be more than that. During this time I brainstormed different scenarios on all the possible ways I can prevent that from happening. I decided on the consensus choice of actually putting together a mixtape.
Now that I decided on actually together an actual mixtape, all that was needed was the spark and inspiration. I couldn’t do an old school type mixtape [Think Cassette Tape type mixtapes or Club DJ mixes) or mixtapes like B3arfruit’s Fruit Cocktail because I lack the skill of mixing. I’m also not a musician, so that was an instant idea scratch. But then I didn’t want a “usual” mixtape so those ideas wouldve been thrown out anyway.
So how did I come up with the idea of an Instrumental mixtape? Well….while working on a design project, I noticed that every time I play music in the background, I rarely listen to the vocals. About 90 Percent of the time while I’m working, the vocals in a song (aside from hooks and choruses) registers as just another instrument in my mind. Right then and there I knew exactly that I was going to do an instrumental mixtape. Not only is it rare to see an Instrumental mixtape, it would benefit me (personal use) also.
*Yes this mixtape is supposed to Non-beneficial to me. Non-Beneficial, Defined as in Financially Beneficial. Personal Beneficial as in (myself) using this mixtape/playlist as background music as I work on my art.*
Creating the tracklist for the mixtape was harder than I expected because it was just instrumentals. It had to be more than just a mix, it had to be a playlist and it had to flow correctly. I wanted the playlist to be built like an album; after listening to Kanye’s new album numerous times, I knew where the bar and expectations had to be set. I wanted a diverse set of instrumentals; some ranging from upbeat to slow, some classically inspired, some modern, some recognizable & predictable, some rare…..and yes there are definitely rare hard-to-find instrumentals on this mixtape and you will be surprised.
Basically to sum it all up, I just wanted to share the inspiration for myself in creating this mixtape and just having an answer to the simple question of Why(?). Honestly I’m not expecting this to go viral, I’m not asking anyone to download it or even take the mixtape seriously. This was just preparation for myself for future possible situations I may stumble upon. But of course it up for download and you the option to download or not. If you do, I do ask that you do not give me credit for any of the instrumentals used; always refrain from giving improper credit. But again its there for your use, if you want spread it, lay vocals down, or simply just listen; feel free……it’s basically a Resource file for musicians.
Do I plan on continuing with a Chapter 2? Definitely, I will always need to perfect my craft in art. And honestly if you want to suggest or request instrumentals go ahead and send them to me.
What are your suggestions for the next Chapters?
